Engaging Citizens: A Game Changer for Development? - Week 0

I have been interested in the subject of Massive Open Online Courses (aka MOOCs) for a while but have never actually taken one. A few weeks ago i was looking at MOOCs on the Coursera website when i spotted one that caught my interestEngaging Citizens: A Game Changer for Development?

Whilst international develop is not my normal area of interest, the course jumped out to me for a number of reasons:

  1. I have had a long interest in student engagement (at work) and political engagement (generally). The course looks like it was take an evidence-based "what works" approach that could spark ideas for me.
  2. The course covers engagement with policy making and service delivery
  3. The course is offered by World Bank in association with the London School of Economics and a number of other organisations - so should be good quality.
  4. The course is free and only 4 weeks long - so not a major commitment
I have watched the welcome videos and the video of the launch event and it does look very interesting.

I intend to record my thoughts here in an attempt to be a good reflective learner as i go through the course :-)
